Gangster Squad tells the story of a special squad assigned to fight a gangster Mickey Cohen who want to control all criminal organizations.Cohen argued with gangster Jack Dragna that they were not allowed mobsters from the East Coast to operate in the city. Meanwhile LAPD detective, John O'Mara raided brothels to rescue women from rape, it got the attention of the police chief Bill Parker. Parker believes that the need to do things over again to fight a guy like Cohen, he commissioned O'Mara to pay a guerrilla campaign against the gangsters. He said O'Mara to use his special abilities (he had been a commando OSS during World War II), which is taught in Camp X during World War II and chose a small team to work without police emblem.O'Mara were pregnant wife, Connie suggested that choosing a veteran Unorthodox seems.

Wooters also meet and start a secret relationship with a girlfriend Cohen, Grace Faraday.The first mission of these teams is to reveal the casinos 'illegal' Cohen in Burbunk, California, but became worse after O'Mara and Harris were arrested by the police Burbank corrupt. Wooters then changed his mind after seeing a boy died and tried to shoot Cohen. Whalen stopped him,
and encouraged him to save people from Burbank jail. Wooters and Keeler Cohen went into the house and put listening devices in the TV. Grace caught them but promised to keep the secret.Cohen was later arrested by the squad. Testimony of Grace ensure Cohen jailed 25 years in Alcatraz, where he later brutalized by friends Whalen. Grace and Wooters live together, while Ramirez and Harris became a partner. Ramirez looks do patrol with signature Kennard, Colt Single Action Army on his hip. O'Mara stopped and chose to live quietly with Connie and her son.
