Review And Synopsis Movie Batman The Killing Joke (2016)

Can a comic, especially superhero comics, the noir genre? I'm not so expert in the field of perkomikan, however if anyone adapting comics The Killing Joke became a film, I'd imagine the film would be a film noir. The story raised a very bleak themes, highlighting the moral ambiguity of the characters as well as a heavy crime drama against the backdrop of a cynical world.

In fact, the inaugural adaptation is an animated film from Warner Bros. was not so exudes an atmosphere which I imagine. Batman: The Killing Joke is the conventional superhero animated series from DC terdongkrak quality thanks to the superiority of his original material.

Adapting the graphic novel written by maestro comics era of the 80s, Alan Moore and illustrated by Brian Bolland, since the beginning is quite problematic. The original material was just a one-shot, just long enough for a full movie. But this is it--we get the full movie. Writer Brian Azzarello added a prologue about Batgirl duration 30 minutes by reason of: (1) to give context to the motivation of the character and (2) Extend the duration of the film is not so short. The last reason is more reasonable.

The audience was not so need the context, because we know who this character is. The Killing Joke was targeted products that make fans, because for that not a fan, how could they could embrace the premise about the hero of the robed men versus bats pale green-haired mad? We know how the dynamics of the relationship of Batman and the Joker; We know who the Commissioner Gordon. And the knowledge is enough as a base for the tragedy and the ending ambiguous which followed thereafter.

But the more crucial is how viewpoints (or how presentations?) Azzarello's response to the dilemma and the tragedy that is different with Moore that closely. This makes the film feel like two different movies that are combined into one. The tragedy in the first half written Azzarello impressed such objectification, whilst the second half of the original material is faithful to the exploration.

Barbara Gordon/Batgirl (voiced by Tara Strong), the daughter of Commissioner Gordon (Ray Wise) dwarfed the controversy that cross-dressing capers, until the only way to express your hobby is given attention by Batman (Kevin Conroy). At the beginning of the film, Batgirl was trying to cope with the gangster who is obsessed with him but Batman intervenes. This action hurt the feelings and her self esteem until he berhub ... well, I won't be revealed them. This scene is so awkward reviewed from various sides.

It's possible to give a coating on his character, humanizing them. The original material in any Batgirl or Commissioner, Gordon is just be a plot device, but to treat them as such and even degrade the character. And this affects the image of Batman, too. For me, this is precisely the impact damage to the most important moments in the end.

The story actually begins when the new Batman learns that Joker (Mark Hamill) escapes from Arkham Asylum. He has prepared a plan for the heinous 2 people nearby Batman, including Commissioner Gordon. The confrontation between Batman and the Joker peak occurred in an abandoned circus. There is that dreadful pengadeganan here. Just look at the Joker, who sits on the throne above a pile of baby doll. Or his minions that consist of a variety of types of freakshow (no offense).

I've read the comics The Killing Joke and this comic gives feel it may be difficult to transfer to another medium. Entering the core story, each scene of the film is almost exactly the same as every comic panel, except for a few additional action sequences. Character design approach hand scratches Bolland, naturally with different details. But tata is far from production quality Batman: Mask of the Phantasm that tata's voice is incredible and the movement of the animation is very dynamic. However, once again we can see the brilliant collaboration of Conroy and Hamill are touted as "the real Batman" and "the real Joker" in the DC Universe. Vile laughter decorated monologue from Hamill makes us shudder.

The Killing Joke is one of the most definitive comic saga of Batman, not only because of the kekontroversialannya but also the arc of his important as discussing past and psychology of the Joker as well as the dynamics of her relationship with Batman. Too bad the movie can't leave a deep impression. More unfortunate again that the film was directed by Sam Liu, the same people who for directing Batman: Year One, the animated film Batman very mature and atmospheric.
